Rasters vs Vectors
You have seen the difference between using Illustrator to vector images and Photoshop to edit pictures. You have experienced some of the advantages and disadvantages of each. You may even prefer one over the other. But why do we have both? Illustrator is made for creating vector graphics and Photoshop was made for creating or editing raster graphics. The two different types of files need to be edited and worked on differently, even requiring different software (Illustrator for vectors and Photoshop for rasters).
